“aken during integration to the philippines in 2019 during anakbayan usa’s exposure program. my first time in the motherland yet somehow was often confronted with a sense of familiarity in places ive never been to physically. before departing for the philippines my mom told me to pay respect to the land upon arrival by feeling the ground and saying “bari bari” as a way to recognize the unfamiliar soil i was on. tried to practice that where ever i went and being on the bundoc(mountain) of Rizal on an integration with peasant farmers was a moment in the trip that will stay with me.”
